Stickam.com today launched Stickam Mobile, enabling members to stream live video to their Stickam players via cell phones. In addition to broadcasting live with their mobile devices, individuals also have the ability to see a live viewer count and the dialogue occurring in their chat room on their cell phone screens. Stickam.com also provides all members with an embed code for their Stickam player, allowing them to display it on any Web site, such as a blog or Facebook / MySpace profile.
“We have a powerful platform that serves millions of members on a daily basis. Enabling them to take advantage of our reach on their cell phone was a natural progression for us,” said Steven Fruchter, Stickam.com CEO. “With Stickam Mobile, we are untethering our members from their computers and enabling them to interact with fans, friends and the general public, regardless of location. We also feel that citizen journalists can take advantage of this technology to reach an even larger audience.”
In order to further promote the democratization of news, mobile streams will have their own section on Stickam.com that visitors can easily access under the ‘Live Streams’ menu. Stickam Mobile will initially be compatible with the Nokia N95 and Nokia S60 series phones. The company also plans to launch an iPhone version soon
