The word doing the rounds at the moment is that modern text handling tech that have been made popular by the Apple iPhone should next year turn up on Apple’s Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard release.
Screens of the build 10A190 of the OS show a new version of Apple’s TextEdit app is to offer the user at least 3 new text handling operations. The first is a sample of the Apple iPhone interface and offers to correct spelling automatically as you type.
Another will offer to insert ’smart dashes’ automatically while the user is typing, and the last is to offer ‘Text replacement.’ Furthermore all these features could possibly be extended to all apps that are to run on Snow Leopard.
