3G iPhone helped Softbank gain more customers in Japan

Softbank Corporation is currently one of the biggest mobile phone companies in Japan. Although the company is still ranking at the third spot, Softbank Corporation is still happy to know that the number of users increased last month. It was also the same month that the second-generation iPhone was launched in the country.3G iPhone

According to the company based in Tokyo, there were about 215,400 new customers who have used the service of Softbank since July. This is actually one of the biggest increases in their company for the year 2008. Last March, there were about 543,900 new customers who shifted to Softbank Corporation when the company made a promotion that they can make free calls for their family members.

Because of the company’s several payment options as well as their discounts, Softbank Corp. gained more customers than its rivals, KDDI Corp. and NTT DoCoMo Inc. for past few months (15 months to be exact).

Softbank Corp. admitted that they are counting on the smartphone from Apple Inc. – the second generation iPhone so that they can still be in the lead in terms of customer gains. Moreover, the 3G iPhone may also result to Softbank Corp.’s bolster sales from its data services.
